On February 1, our colleagues from Mariupol reached Avdiivka that suffers from escalation of violence in eastern Ukraine. Intensified fighting led to more destruction and suffering. A town of 22,000 left without electricity. Scarce water supply and heating is hardly suffient to cover needs of the town under shelling. Since Saturday, UNHCR and partners continue assessment of destruction and distributions of shelter materials and basic relief item to cover damaged homes.
