Katrina 2

My friends, family, and collegues are all disgusted at the response to Katrina. While our support goes out to those in New Orleans, we MUST condemn the response to this tragedy.

First the photo:beautiful strong -- I want to hug them all.

Second, the content: I tuned into tom Hartman on the internet and heard accounts of how trucks with water were ready to supply the people a week ago -- and were turned back.

The suggestion was put forward that the "other" class has seen this as an opportunity to get rid of a lot of poor people in NO and rebuild it as a Disney type theme park.

I wish there was not so much evidence to make this a plausible thesis.

so here is what I said on ed gordon.

but i got it wrong to a certain extent. representatives from the federal government are using this language ON PURPOSE, to prepare people for the significant loss of life.

is the little baby girl crying, there? Having just contributed to a church-based relief fund and having helped my nephew rescue his mother-in-law from down there, this situation infuriates me to no end.

I'm loving the photos on Flickr with people holding up simple, but important messages. Incredibly strong imagery. Thank you for this.

This picture says and shows it all. I like the way it brings us right THERE, stopping the flow of browsing to make us squint and read. Really makes you pause and think.

THIS IS A PERSONAL NOTE MAINLY - I ABSOLUTELY love this picture - you've got quite a family of photographers! It's even more thrilling since I know you and Shawn - here's a picture of how I remember you both and how I knew you and your family would "represent" and "make us think" - trying to figure out how to contact you but thanks for sharing all your photos for your "long lost friends" to see!

P.S. Niara looks just like I remember Imani - boy has time passed quickly!!

very touching photo! You are absolutely correct. If this doesn't make Americans wake the F- up, I don't know what will.

... Never liked the actions taken by the US govt since the WOMD issue... it just goes deeper and deeper when we think about their agenda :( and why the slow response to save these people when we already had the experience with the tsunami?? When will they learn...

I was skimming through the pictures in the group and had to come back to get a closer look at this one. It is such powerful picture and statement.

I as well am disgusted and that statement is totally correct they could've been prevented. Let's get Bush out before he runs the whole place into the ground.
Sickening how the response time was greater for the Wildfires in
California. Katrina was waywayway more destructive.
    We love New Orleans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
