Indonesian peatlands
These photos were taken during a media trip organized 4-6 May 2018 in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, to document a South-South training facilitated by the GAMBUT Project and Working on Fire Program between South African and Indonesian firefighters to better prevent and mitigate peatland fires.
In addition to the training conducted in Buntoi Village, Central Kalimantan, photos were also taken in the village of Tumbang Nusa, one of the worst affected villages by the 2015 environmental disaster, as well as in Sebangau National Park that houses one of the world's last swaths of pristine peatland.
