Eye on UMSL: CEEL of approval: March 4, 2019

Members of the "CEEL Team 1" Academy (front two tables) met on Feb. 26 in the ED Collabitat at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. The Character Education in Emerging Leaders Academy is an initiative of the Leadership Academy in Character Education program created by the Center for Character and Citizenship, which is housed in the UMSL College of Education. CEEL and CCC staff members meet with CEEL Mentors – exemplary principals who have led their schools to national recognition – and CEEL Fellows – assistant principals – on whom the academy's efforts are focused. CEEL Fellows receive mentoring and scholarship and credit opportunities, with the aim of training them to possess the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to create, implement and evaluate programs and processes that make their schools true learning communities in which character education is a vital part of the curriculum and culture when they become principals. This is the second time this cohort has convened. (Photo by August Jennewein)
