Grace Goldtooth-Campos

Grace Goldtooth-Campos, Mdewakanton Dakota from the Lower Sioux Community, joined American Indian Studies class on Thursday, March 27. As current Native Nations Bush Foundation Fellow and Lower Sioux Community's tribal historic preservation officer, Grace provided meaningful and contemporary context to the Indian policies students have been learning. Grace specifically talked about the importance of restoring nationhood, exercising tribal sovereignty, and her personal work in developing traditional leadership curriculum for young people. She also discussed her role as THPO officer and leadership role in the Lower Sioux Interpretive Center, bridging both federal policy and her commitment to considering seven generations forward.
