Paul Villinski's Butterfly Installation:
As he was touring the building site, a construction worker’s turquoise iced tea can caught artist Paul Villinski’s eye. A campaign to collect similar cans began in April 2010, with 801 cans collected between April and November. Villinski will morph the cans into a swirling, winged installation comprised of 450 butterflies that will move freely with the shifting energy of main lobby. Recycled paint from the construction project will also be used to bring life to the butterflies. Villinski holds a degree from Cooper Union in New York City, where he has lived and worked for 30 years. A pilot of paragliders and sailplanes, his work is filled with metaphors of flight and soaring. His work has appeared in more than 90 exhibitions around the U.S.
