perseid meteor shower

I had wanted to venture out where there would be less light pollution, but the view from my backyard was sufficient for spotting at least a dozen meteorites. There were several very bright streaks, but because they were so quick I hardly pressed my shutter before they disappeared. This was the only one I was able to catch on camera (until I became tired and went in). Next year I'll plan ahead and camp out farther up north.

My settings:

ISO 800

Manual mode

f 4.0, 10sec

17-85mm @ 17

Secure camera to the tripod and continuously press the release button to get 10 second exposures. I don't have a time release, so just used my regular cable release. Then, just hope my clicking coincides with a meteor passing :)
