Stenbider | by ulterior epicure
Back to album

"Stenbider" (or "stone biter") is a prehistoric, pufferfish-looking fish with a highly gelatinous body and a sucker on its underside that allows it to anchor to a rock in rough currents. It is mostly fished for its roe, which is prized as "caviar" in Scandinavia (sometimes sold as lumpfish roe).
