Race for the Cure Tea Party
14 April 2011 - The British Embassy is once again taking part in the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event for 2011.

Last year we managed to raise €1,806.11 for this worthy cause, but this year we raised just under €2,000. Leading on this initiative has been the new designate Ambassador’s wife, Nina Prentice, who opened the doors of Villa Wolkonsky to the Diplomatic community by holding a ‘Tea Party’ in the reception room and grounds of this beautiful residence on Thursday 14 April.

Over 100 guests attended to listen to Professor Riccardo Masetti, President of Susan G Komen Italia, who talked about the importance of breast cancer awareness and the Race for the Cure event. This charity has been growing from strength to strength since its beginning here in Italy 12 years ago and is now one of the most active and successful breast cancer organizations in Italy, providing medically underserved communities in Italy with new opportunities for early detection and improved breast cancer care.

At the Tea Party, several of the guests signed up to run the Race for the Cure, which takes place on Sunday 22 May, under the banner of the diplomatic team ‘The Internationals’.
