South Zone Sports Day
UKIM South zone celebrated its annual sports day on Sunday 4th July. With 7 branches taking part, there were activities for the old and young. The main event started with recitation from the Quran and a welcome message from zonal president Dr. Mohammed Arif. The main activity was cricket with 2 pools of 4 teams playing a maximum of 6 overs each. Luton headed group A with some incredible hitting of 126 and 100 runs in their 6 overs. Group B was dominated by Slough and both these teams easily won their semi-finals. In the final Luton was restricted to 70 runs but their bowlers bowled out Slough for a meagre 50.

For the youngsters there were sack races, long jump and football. These activities were broken up to under 10’s, under 15’s, under 40’s and over 40’s. Each winner was awarded a medal and the best performance received the cup. The senior citizens had ludo and a walking race, so everybody was accommodated irrespective of age.

With the sun shining and some incredible food lots of fun was had by everybody, new friends were made and brotherhood increased.
