The UK College of Medicine Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society held its annual Induction Banquet on April 6, 2017 at the Hilary J. Boone Center. AOA is the national medical school honor society. Induction into AOA is a high honor, recognizing students who have not only had high academic achievement, but also demonstrated excellence in class leadership and service, community service and engagement, and scholarship and research endeavors.

Richard Gunderman, M.D., Ph.D., was the guest lecturer during AOA Stambaugh Medical Humanities Lecture. Dr. Gunderman is the Chancellor's Professor of Radiology, Pediatrics, Medical Education Philosophy, Liberal Arts, Philanthropy and Medical Humanities and Health Studies at Indiana University. His lecture was titled “Resuscitating the Physician's Conscience.”

The UK Chapter of AOA selected the following junior students for induction into AOA. For this honor, these students will serve as the Executive Leadership for AOA in 2017-18 and organize various AOA activities (AOA elections; AOA-MD/PhD Student Research Day; AOA lecture).
