Iapetus animated sequence [updated]

These approximately natural color images of Iapetus were taken by the narrow-angle camera between 20th and 27th January 2006. The distances ranged from 1.93 mil. km (first image), to 0.88 mil. km (4th image) and finally 0.94 mil. km (last image). Phase angle increased from 52 to 135 degrees

 

The images were processed to approximate natural color. All images magnified 2x for better visibility.
