St. James Park, London, on a May Afternoon

Best viewed LARGE on Black: bighugelabs.com/onblack.php?id=3230340341&size=large&...

One of my favorite, or "favourite" places in London - a great place to go to recover from jetlag on the first day after one of those morning landings from the States. It's hard to believe that Buckingham Palace is located a few hundred feet directly behind me from this spot! I believe the buildings on the other side of the pond and bridge are part of the Whitehall complex of government buildings.

I thought you'd like to know that we've used your picture on the homepage of our (not-for-profit) website to illustrate some free architectural walks we're offering as part of the London Festival of Archiecture. It's on our homepage (the third image in the carousel) and on the event page that that links through to. We have linked back to your Flickr page. Hope this is ok!

Super picture of my favourite view.

Best view in London without doubt. Unfortunately behind the trees on the right is that awful blot on the landscape, the London Eye.

Nothing against the London Eye but they could have chosen another location that doesn't spoil a perfect UK scene, bad planning in my opinion.

Many thanks for adding your excellent picture to the 'CANNON ROW THEN & NOW' Group.

This view was a firm favourite with many Cannon Row police officers when on patrol at all hours of the day and night and through all the seasons especially looking east from the duck bridge towards Horseguards Parade.

Unfortunately, this perfect and irreplaceable view has/was completely ruined by the introduction of the disgraceful carbuncle on the 'Best View In London' by the introduction of the 'London Eye' that should be linked to a circus or fairground rather than one of the most historical and delightful sights in London.

Note to all visitors to London, visit the duck bridge, look east and, if you can, obliterate the blot on the landscape ( London Eye) from memories of your visit.
