This image by Kara Cerveny shows the retina from the eye of a 3-day-old zebrafish – a small tropical freshwater fish widely used in scientific research.

Kara is a postdoctoral researcher in Steve Wilson’s lab at UCL and her work focuses on eye growth and development. She says: "My scientific curiosity was sparked by explorations of the fields, bogs, oceans and prairies near my childhood homes in the United States."
