Well, what can I say about my day out today?!
Firstly, massive thanks to Greg Mckenzie - www.flickr.com/photos/pinktree/ for taking me to this place. Then furthermore feeling perfectly comfortable about walking over the White Cliffs of Dover with a shed load of LP kit (including a Dome tool) in broad daylight in amongst dog walkers and ramblers, getting well and truly stuck into 6 hours of underground LP nonsense and then helping me make one of the least dignified exits from this tunnel!!
Secondly, it was BLOODY AMAZING!!!!!
This is a WW2 Deep Shelter in the cliffs just outside Dover and part of a huge network of underground spaces within the iconic cliffs that sit right in the heart of Hell Fire Corner. Its filled with history and it was really quite something to see - its hard to imagine what it must have been like for the troops that used it all those years ago - whilst we were down there a fairly long time it was only a few hours and it was very nice to get back out in the air at the end of it!
Having taken this shot Greg was able to close his shutter with his wireless remote. While I wait for my wireless one to be replaced I am reliant on a wired unit. This place is DARK and there was no way of safely getting to the cameras without falling over something and an expensive accident. Damn it, a wrecked shot then as the torch went back on, or perhaps not.....It looks like a stream of electronic ectoplasm is being sucked from Greg's head on command by the evil red dome! A happy accident this one and I really like it!
