    Homemade stromboli is well worth the time and minimal effort. Yes, the sauce on top is homemade, too. I'm like a mountain hermit survivalist of the kitchen.

      I constantly complain about the lack of decent stromboli. So I made this recipe, and holy crap, it's really good. No adjustments necessary.

      Okay... for the dough-
      2 tsp yeast
      1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp warm water
      1 1/2 cups flour
      2 tsp sugar
      1/2 tsp salt
      2 tbsp parmesan cheese

      (I won't insult you on how to make dough other than to say yes, the parmesan cheese gets kneaded right in.)

      Then, divide in half, roll into two rectangles (quite thin) and layer on meats (or not, for you) and some mozzarella and provolone cheese, blended with whatever herbs you like (I use basil, thyme, oregano and cilantro), roll up tightly, let puff up for about ten minutes, then bake on a baking stone. Preheat the stone to 450 degrees, then reduce heat to 400 and bake for 30 to 40 minutes.

      I forgot to mention, the book said this would serve 6. I'd say it would serve 4 quite comfortably, or 2 gluttons. One could halve it and be fine, or I suspect half of the dough would freeze alright, though I haven't tried that yet.

      Ha... I had no idea. That's a bit of a violation of the generous C.C. license. Maybe I'll harass them until they give me a pizza or something. Although instead of being too angry, I'm actually saying to myself "They have a Warhol cow? Maybe I should take a trip to Milwaukee..."

      I knew about wikipedia... not about the Jersey place, though. Just proves the point that one shouldn't trust pictures on restaurant menus. While I'm still a rank amateur who takes this as flattery, as a customer, I'd be a little peeved.
