October 2014 Research Partners Lunch
This presentation demonstrates that important information is often not harvested from our databases because of the lack of a comprehensive approach toward information mining. An information discovery technique will be presented in terms of the Critical Analysis Reporting System’s (CARE) information mining component (IMPACT). This will be presented in terms of an intensive study that was performed on wet weather crashes in an attempt to surface the most significant factors for countermeasure development. The presentation will be in the form of a series of questions that most traffic safety professionals would be expected to know in order to challenge the audience to further quantify their thinking. At the same time, the techniques of IMPACT will be demonstrated one step at a time so as not to overwhelm the audience with theory. Presented by Dave Brown, Research Affiliate and Jesse Norris, Sr. Research Analyst, of CAPS.
