Uruguayan Firecracker Plant or King's Crown

Dicliptera [Jacobinia] suberecta

Family Acanthaceae

native to Uruguay

my garden in Bisbee, Arizona (USDA Zone 8b)

A low-growing perennial suitable for borders and containers. The flame orange flowers are carried on stems above sprawling sage green, velvety foliage. Deer find it irresistible, unfortunately, but can be discouraged by spritzing the plant and its surroundings with a repellent spray.
