278; ex LW&C boxcab #1

LWC #1 & #2 (PV&T 278 & 279) were two of the last LW&C electrics that remained in service before the wires were reenergized at 3kvdc in 1937.

This wasn't because they were particularly modern or powerful; These tiny motors had largely been superseded by newer power, but when the PV&T started selling equipment nobody showed any interest, so they stuck around on the line until the end.

Sadly, there wasn't enough interest in these cars for preservation, so they eventually went to brokers who TRIED to sell them, failed, and then stripped them and sold the shells as sheds (278 exists in Lincoln as a backyard shed, 279 fell into disrepair and was eventually demolished.)
