George Lois for TypographyShop

George Lois wearing our Helvetica Hoodie and drinking from a mug bearing his famous quotation: "The creative act, the defeat of habit by originality, overcomes everything" Photographed in New York by his son Luke in March 2012.

I’m honored to be working with the legendary Adman in launching a line George has christened “ The Ten Commandments of George Lois.”

From his groundbreaking work at Doyle Dane Bernbach to his controversial Esquire covers to "I want my MTV," George Lois has carved a career sans equal in the advertising industry.

If today's young designers, art directors and copywriters ever needed a savior in the form of a living mentor, it would be George, famous for saying "Advertising is not a science, advertising is an art —no questions about it." George chose this design from among our treatments. A portion of the proceeds from sales of this shirt will benefit the Herschel Levit scholarship fund at Pratt Institute, Mr. Lois' alma mater.
