    Marie’s new camera with my new lens. I bought the lens because it’s sharper and focuses on these new bodies.

    Shooting notes: Obviously 1/6sec, even with image stabilization, could do with a higher ISO or better lighting. That’s why I chose to black and white it.

    Editing notes: A lot of filtering was done in order to make the image look a lot better than it is. Some control points were added to dodge the camera deep in shadow—the film processing is very contrasty. I like the reverse contrast provided by the blue filter—the difference on a black camera (wood foreground) is subtle but noticeable. Of course, a lot of vignetting is going on. It’s nice you can choose the point in Silver Efex Pro.

      Love the lens.

      @Ravages I haven’t tried it yet.

      @Andrew Alexander True that, but it’s going to have the 18-55 VR on it for a while, while Marie learns to use it.

      does the AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G work perfectly on the D5000 ?
      is it worth buying for prtraits and low light photography ?

    4. tychay 51 months ago | reply

      @sidou1313: It works fine. I shot the 50 1.8D for a long time on my Nikon D70. A better lens for low light will probably be the 35mm f/1.4G DX because of the better value, but I also shoot a D3.

      hi,

      how about 50mm 1.4d is it suite for d5000?. wondering which one to grab.. mmm

    7. tychay 42 months ago | reply

      No, it will not autofocus on that camera. Instead get the 35mm f/1.8G DX or the 50mm f/1.4G
