Fogged In Redux: Pseudo HDR
I just thought I'd post this up for comparison. This is what Photomatix makes out of a single RAW, calling it a "pseudo HDR." I've been calling them HdR 1RAW. Either way, it is a pretty good compromise if you can't shoot multiple bracketed photos in register, or, if you are just too lazy to do so, as I often am.
I like that this method shows details you have a hard time seeing with the regular non-hdr RAW to jpeg conversion. For instance, you can see the green color of the one boat, and the distinct bow of the blue boat (instead of them both kind of disappearing into shadow). If you look around you can see more of this. However, the non-hdr version undoubtedly has an elegance, for want of a better word, the processed version lacks or loses in the translation
