John Thomas Hollings

This mug shot comes from a police identification book believed to be

from the 1930s. It was originally found in a junk shop by a member of

the public and subsequently donated to Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums.

No information is available to confirm which police force compiled it

but evidence suggests it's from the Newcastle upon Tyne area.

This image is part of the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums set Newcastle upon Tyne criminals of the 1930’s.

We've been contacted today by a relative of this man. He has lots more information about him that we look forward to seeing. He already knew he was a career criminal!

What exactly is 'Gains access by means of bodily pressure'?....does he fart his way into premises?

    observerstation
I understood it to mean that he forced a door with say a shoulder or boot, rather than smashing a window.

Great news that a relative has made contact who may be able to provide more details about this man's life. Life is not kind to many and it's good to try to understand why people make the choices they do. Often poverty reduces those choices and it's only with the distance of time that we can relfect with empathy - and hopefully learn from history.
