Ría de Treto

The so called Ría de Treto is the estuary formed by the confluence of the Asón and Clarín rivers on the Gulf of Biscay. While the estuary is heavily humanized, with three of the main towns in Cantabria in its vicinity - Laredo, Colindres and Santoña - it has preserved some areas of high ecological value, including the famous Santoña marshlands, the most important wetland in North Spain.
