Wirral Sunset (2)

Taken tonight (01/06/2012) from Mockbeggar Wharf on the Wirral.

The reflection is actually a refraction effect with the Sun's real image being refracted through an atmospheric inversion layer. It is therefore an inferior mirage effect. Apparently when you see this 'Omega Sun' the conditions are just right for seeing all kinds of atmospheric distortion effects at Sunset such as the 'Etruscan Vase' and the Green Flash (see one of my other photos). You can clearly see a green tinge to the upper limb of the Sun which is also a harbinger of the Green Flash.
