After reading what a great place Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park is, I was disappointed when we visited it. Basically it consists of 2 ponds and road that went through a woods. We drove done the road but were unable to spot any wildlife. The ponds did have a lot of vultures (black and turkey) that were far away, There were some shore birds closer up. The highlight was watching a bald eagle leave one of the ponds and fly away.
By the way, the State Park is north of Everglades National Park and a little west of Big Cypress National Preserve.
