Wave Panning

From my first batch of wave panning attempts. I could get into this... I need to live at the beach.

Hey, mslissap, you can have all the stuff in my cube. I'm just gonna live at the beach.

Oh, never mind - I need a paycheck... bummer. I'll be back Monday, after all...

Apologies if the processing is screwy - laptop...

I could live at the beach too! My favorite place in the whole world! This is great, Joe! I actually feel like I'm there standing in the waves.

Kiwi - it's pretty straight-forward... just stand in the water, about where the little wavelets are breaking, and zoom in on a swell. Follow it in, constantly refocusing on it, just making sure to pan with the wave, keeping the camera aimed at the same part the whole time. Right when it's about to break, trip the shutter, while continuing to pan. Ideally, you'll have a long enough shutter speed to not stop the action (though that would be interesting in its own right). With luck, you get something like this... Without luck, you get something like most of the 80 photos I took standing in the ocean yesterday afternoon...

I'm glad you came back. I need someone to do all my work when I'm sick.

Well... I couldn't just not come back... plus it's not that bad - you don't get sick much, hehe.
