On the Road with Tufts GSAS Dean Lynne Pepall

“Hot springs like this are not only pleasant to look at, but are also used by Iceland to generate the power necessary to heat water.”

"In March 2012, I visited Iceland with my husband and fellow Tufts School of Arts and Sciences Department of Economics Professor Dan Richards. We took the trip for a number of reasons—we wanted to have some leisure time over Spring Break (which we did) and see the Northern Lights (which, unfortunately, did not light up). We also wanted to witness for ourselves how the country is fairing since the worldwide financial crises left it on the brink of economic disaster. What we found was a country that has lifted itself off the proverbial “mat” and a place that, to our surprise, has a lot in common with Tufts University.”
