Over at Gurney Journey, James Gurney challenged his readers to post their interpretation of a particular business card.
This is one of my better drawings aboard the LA Metro Red Line from the month of May and this stranger's persona sort of fits my idea of someone named Trudy who runs the day-to-day operations of the likes of the Harvard Depository.
The sketch is from my 7"x10" 80-lb-paper notebook, done in rather soft layout pencil in about 15 minutes (less if you count the times where people kept standing in the way). She was reading something (like any librarian) so she was a great sitter.
When she left the train I noticed her thick gold necklace supported an amazing winged (Egyptian?) golden talisman. I wish I could have done justice to such an interesting piece of jewelry.
