Media Obtains Footage of Gov. John Connally's Clothes at TSLAC 10.15.13

On Tuesday, October 15, 2013, TSLAC welcomed the media to preview the suit of clothing worn by Texas Governor John Connally on November 22, 1963. Governor Connally was in the motorcade with President John F. Kennedy on that tragic day in Dallas. Though seriously wounded, the governor survived. His clothing, which he donated to TSLAC in 1964, was temporarily displayed in the agency’s conservation lab for the media to capture the week before its public exhibition. Staff interviewed were preservation officer John Anderson and conservator Sarah Norris.

Starting Tuesday, October 22, 2013 the suit and shirt will each be displayed on two custom-made dress forms in the lobby of TSLAC’s Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building in Austin. The clothing is the centerpiece of a new exhibit titled “Texas Investigates: the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy and Wounding of Governor John B. Connally,” which runs until February 14, 2014 and is free and open to the public. For more information visit: www.tsl.state.tx.us/news/2013/tslac-displays-unique-items...
