Maurice Edu: USA in South Africa 2010

    Newer Older

    Subject, Inspiration:
Finally found some time to get back on my African inspired mosaic experiments. This one is a mosaic portrait of Maurice Edu, the talented American midfielder of the US national team and Rangers F.C.

Inspired by the amazing art of the Ndebele people, the most artistic tribe of South Africa as well as the South African flag.

For anyone interested more about my studies on African patterns and mosaics, I would like to invite you to the 4th International Conference on Typography and Visual Communication, organized by the University of Nicosia in Cyprus.
    More informations here.

    Color set
Color set is influenced by the Ndebele house mural decorations colors. There are just six spot colors used here + a light grey for the backgroung.

    Software, Technique:
Made with custom developed scripts and techniques in Synthetik Studio Artist, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Apple QuickTime Pro.
