Double Rainbows at Spider Rock, Canyon de Chelly

    Newer Older

I saved this spot for the end of the day hoping to catch Spider Rock under the spot light of sunset, despite a dubious weather forecast. As it turned out, the anticipated thundershowers worked in my favour.

    For Sandie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

The sight itself is amazing and then you catch a rainbow? Over the top awesome!!!!!

Thanks Dan. It really was a lucky moment. I took several snaps but some of them had flare spots from raindrops on the front element. I discovered this back in the car and returned to do a retake. By that time, the rainbows had already moved away from the spire. Cheers, tsaiproject.

Supern catch. The rainbow seems to grow out of the spire -- very nice. Part of the sky looks blown out. Don't know if it was unavoidable.

Good positioning on the rainbow, Spider Rock doesn't look half bad either! Great pic.

Good for you, your preplanning worked out great. I had a hard time getting the colours out of the rocks. You obviously did not. Great job. One of the best photos I've seen of Spider Rock.

Looks like you captured a pot of gold here. The greens and reds in the canyon really pop. Awesome shot!
