9 th of January on a clear night.
A Fuji S5Pro at the back of a 203mm telescope with a focal length of 1260mm.and a fascination for the sheer beauty of the Orion nebula and by the technical challenge of the very high dynamic range required by the contrast between the bright starforming core of the nebula and its very dim veils.
The required dynamic range was achieved by superimposing (IRIS software) a series of short, medium and long exposures (3 series of 4 photos with exposure: 30sec, 2 min, 8 min (42 minutes in total). The HDR sum was represented on a log scale and Orion becomes majestic. All this is a familiar process for some astronomers... Many thanks to them!
