Church of Annunciation in Nazareth, Israel

This is what is outside the Church of Annunciation in Nazareth, Israel. The church marks one of the holiest sites for Christianity where it is believed that the angel announced to Mary that her son would be the son of God. The church is the building with the pointed gray roof. Right next to it, almost on top of it, Moslems built a mosque. The mosque is fairly small but it sports a large sign with a translation of the Arabic text so that pilgrims to the church have to see it: “And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers”. The minaret of the mosque sports the Palestinian flag, a Hamas flag and loud speakers to project the 5 times a day call to prayers so that the sound is dominant in the neighborhood – Islam dominating this very holy Christian site and the surrounding (traditionally) Christian town.
