Victoria Avenue School Says Goodbye to Asphalt!
TreePeople works with LAUSD, school Green Teams, volunteer groups, and lost of kids, parents, and teachers to break through the asphalt and concrete of school campuses. By puncturing the grounds with generous cuts for trees and replacing blacktop with grass, rain gardens, and native plant habitats, we are cooling our schools and providing a healthier educational experience for children. As Jorge Alvarez and Principal Maria Tovares show in their pictures, Victoria Avenue School sets a great example of what volunteers can do to transform a playground. And they have embarked on a new reading garden, too!
