On Stowes Hill, above the quarry. In the 1860s the "prop" was added (on the right here), just to be on the safe side. There's not really any sense of scale in this photo, which is a shame, because its impressively large. There are few plants taller than the grass on Stowe's Hill, but not far behind me is a very windswept thorn tree. The clouds conspired against me, otherwise I'd have a photo of tree and Cheesewring together.
