Karasjok is in the far north of Norway above the actic circle. It is home to the Sami reindeer herders. The country is glaciated and has many fjords and beatiful lakes but it is also a difficult place to make a living. They are now an autonomous region within Norway and have their own parliament. We happened to arrive just as they were butchering the older male reindeer to sell for meat.
