On tour with Annette, World War I tour guide extraordinaire

One of two British Lions at Ploegsteert Memorial, this lion was originally meant for Menin Gate but was considered to look too aggresive.

The second lion, which was being refurbished while we were there is sad at the loss of so many British lives, this one is aggresive, to protect his countrymen buried here.

The lighter spots on the lion are bullet and shrapnel damage from World War II
