Low Tide at Hall's Harbour

Best viewed Large!

Fishing boats await the mighty tide of the Bay of Fundy.

Hall's Harbour

Nova Scotia

The Bay of Fundy is home to the worlds highest tides. Someday I will actually try to time it so I can shoot it at it's highest point and then come back later and get it at it's lowest.

Post Processing

I wanted to try out Adobe CS5's improved HDR merge. I gotta say I like the results much better than any others I've tried before. Certainly doesn't have all the noise that always seems to be a problem with Photomatix. I had pretty much gotten away from HDR images anyway and usually just hand blend exposures if I'm dealing with a high contrast scene. CS5 makes it much quicker though and if I had left this image alone after tonemapping you wouldn't even think it was an HDR. Of course I had to frig with it until I had way over-processed so now it looks like every other garish HDR that Flickr is full of :-)

By the way, my favorite part of this shot is the way the light is hitting the windows of the house on the hill. I remember them looking almost like gold.

Please, no multiple invites or crazy glittery graphics. Thank You
