Tom the Gardener

    Newer Older

This is a new friend of mine, Tom - "Tom the Gardener", as I call him.

Tom is going to celebrate his 70th birthday soon. He is a veeteran with some great tales to tell, for example, how he helped get NIxon out safely on a trip to Central America many years ago - or - how he was caught by Castro while on liberty near Guantanamo (he was one of he last to get liberty there).

Tom loves Philadelphis and lives close to Glenwood Green Acres, where he tends his garden. He is fairly satisfied with his life and enjoys the simple things, like family, friends and gardening.

We had a wonderful conversation in North Philadelphia.

This photo reflects the hope we have, especially when we weed out the not so good things in life and plant some really good the vegetables he grows to give to the homeless and hungry.

    Thanks, Tom.

Philly is an "adopted" hometown. I love it. I live in New Jersey! I am glad the photos give an impression of familiarity.
