Rose River Loop Trail 3

Nikon D700

Nikon 20/3.5 UD (factory AI'd)

My friend Pete and I spent 4 great days exploring the Big Meadows area within Shenandoah National Park. We (day) hiked the Corbin Cabin Loop, White Oak Canyon, Rose River Loop and the Mill Prong/Rapidan Camp Trails over the four days.

The weather worked out very good staying mostly in the 80's or even cooler at times under the canopy. The dearth of rain lately made the falls (on each trail) a bit less than their optimal for flow of course but each was striking in its own way. I mostly enjoyed the good conversation and isolation of the woods.

It was also pretty hard work and I actually carried my D700 only on the first and last days, I missed some good shots on the White Oak Canyon hike in particular but I just couldn't hack it with a full load. I'm happy with the decision, I did bring the camera and tripod on the Rose River Loop which was our shortest at around 4.5 miles and was happy to get a couple water flowing shots. Enjoy!
