Superb capture, Barry! But not much luck around your area lately. Now the earthquake has passed, good luck with the hurricane!

Are the blurry people in the background just coming off the wheel? ;-))
I hope you survived the earthquake, hurricane and floods, Barry !!!

Love that perspective on the Wonder Wheel. The ghost people add a lot, as do the ones who stopped to snap a pic!

i like the way you do these shots... i always have trouble with blown highlights.

thanks. luckily we were spared any real damage from either here in the city.
i often do too for night shots. in this case using film helped. TriX seems to have loads of dynamic range, and while highlights still get blown, i can usually squeeze out some detail.

I didn't comment this one but I would have done it.
    This composition is delightful.
You're very good to capture this kind of elegant shot. Your eye gives you the best intuition.
I'm highly amazed by the universe of this image.
These warm and dramatic in the same time black and white tones are fantastic.
I can feel the spirit of this place even if I've never visited it. Again this smooth aspect which give a so strong dynamic. It's not too sharp, everything takes its own value. The people in the foreground are essential to create this magic mood. The ghost wheel, the perspective, the blurred figures, the lights.
I can say it's one my favorite shot of New York (on flickr).
