The River Roach's Bridges
Day sail with Steve Dunn down River Crouch and into River Roach & associated creeks.

Left Creeksea at 1100 and made good progress tacking against very strong spring tide to make it to Havengore by 1300.

Sadly a 4 knot tide plus flukey onshore breeze meant we couldn't get through Havengore bridge, despite the bridge keeper kindly opening it for us. (This was probably a blessing in disguise: I think we'd have been tempted to cross the Thames if we'd made it through!)

Instead we went round the back of Potton Island and through the Potton swing bridge before lunch at Paglesham where Steve's wetsuit was much admired by the bar staff (!!)

Then a wild beat with tide out of the Roach and a crazy run home up the Crouch against strong ebb to Creeksea, where we came ashore about 1745. Fine day. About 20Nm sailed.
