Seven 2 Eleven detail
I was going to just link back to a prior version of this sign I had posted over a year ago, but after taking a look at how much better Adobe's latest version of their raw converter did with the colors in the neon I decided it was time to revisit this classic with the latest and greatest iteration of Adobe Camera Raw.
My version of Camera Raw is embedded in Lightroom 3 but the really good news is that the $70 Photoshop Elements contains the very same ACR engine. I am really impressed with the way ACR preserved the neon colors; of course it helps greatly that I was shooting at the peak of the blue hour; twilight was made for neon.
The beauty of shooting in raw mode; the image truly becomes akin to a film negative and it can always be reprinted with different "chemistry"; old shots lying in your digital shoebox can be revisited and improved over time. If I had shot jpeg, the image the camera decided on in 2006 would have been the image I was stuck with.
