Disney's Port Orleans Resort

French Quarter

I think these alligators really enhance the theme of Port Orleans – French Quarter. Even though they’re not Disney characters per se, they give the resort a bit of whimsy instead of attempting to cast it as a faithful recreation of the French Quarter. As skilled as the Imagineers are at theming, they will never be able to do complete justice to the real thing–regardless of the theme–the best way around this is to theme to a stylized and whimsical version of the real thing.

This is just one of 60+ photos in the first installment of our May 2012 Walt Disney World Trip Report, which is now up. One of many gator photos, too!
