Disneyland - "it's a small world" holiday

"it's a small world" holiday looks pretty beautiful throughout the Christmas season, but there was no time during our trip when it looked more beautiful than during and after the rain.

As everyone else was running for cover when it started pouring, I pulled out my camera (thankfully it's weather sealed and I have a poncho for it!) and began playing! Much like a kid in the winter standing outside singing, "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow," I was outside shouting, "let it rain, let in rain, let it rain." I don't think my shoes have ever been more soaked than they were that night, but it was totally worth it!

See you in a week! (Follow Sarah's photographic exploits on this trip via Instagram: DisTouristBlog)

I have always contended the tourist in me hates the rain while the photographer loves the rain, it produces such rich opportunities like this. Well done. Collectively, I believe my family went on this ride 7-8 times this past week, it was popular with a certain person.

Stunning shot for sure. The rain really does offer a beautiful new perspective.
  • Matthew Cooper 3y

Wow, those are some amazing reflections! I personally absolutely love it when it rains. It clears out the parks and makes taking photos even more fun.
  • Kent Freeman 3y

Wet pavement adds such a nice foreground.
  • Susie 3y

    Great colors and reflections!

I tired to take a shot like this last year when I was there on a rainy night, but people were still around. This works soooooo much better when EVERYONE is out of your shot. Stunning!
  • Brett Matthews 3y

Beautiful shot and incredible colors. Great work as always :)

Way to take advantage of that weather for a great shot. All that light makes it practically look like a neon jungle. Small World Vegas?
  • thecookielady123... catching up:) 3y

Totally worth the wet shoes!! Instant fave!

All these shots are kind of making me hope that it rains in Florida for at least one day/night next week. All those reflections are so great!
  • Michael Greening 3y

TOTALLY WORTH IT! I'm so jealous you got to shoot this in the rain. I never seem to get that opportunity.
  • Corey Dorsey 3y

This shot is so cool, the water really took it to the next level.

And I'm not trying to sound mean, but I realize I must have misjudged you. At first (again, don't take this the wrong way) I thought of you as the type of person who thought little old Disneyland had no match to the Walt Disney World Resort. I got the impression that you thought every aspect was better in WDW and you would defend it to your death. But I was very wrong and I do apologize for that. Even though I lived and worked in WDW (well, lived right next to it) I am still from California and Disneyland is my "home park" as you ingeniously call it, and it's nice to see you giving it such praise.

Once again, I'm not trying to say anything bad about you and I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I was just telling my misconceived thoughts.
