On the 7th Day of Christmas...

    Newer Older

...My true love gave to me, another epic icicle castle.

Like I said before, the Icicle Dream Lights would probably take up half the list on a true countdown. They almost make up for Disney pulling the plug on Country Bear Christmas.

Although these lights are incredibly epic, super-rad, and tubular, I actually think Disneyland's castle lights do more for Sleeping Beauty Castle than these lights do for Cinderella Castle. Overall, I think Cinderella Castle still looks better, but I think the lights on Sleeping Beauty Castle improve it more than these lights improve Cinderella Castle. (Sleeping Beauty Castle starts out far behind Cindy Castle, so it would make sense that the lights are able to improve it so much.) Based solely on the photos I've seen of Sleeping Beauty Castle with its lights, I think those lights and other effects help make the Castle look more like a quaint Castle in a mountainous region (that role played by the Matterhorn). I still love Cinderella Castle's lights, don't get me wrong, and Cinderella Castle still routs Sleeping Beauty Castle in a throw-down, but the lights do seem to add more to the 'illusion' out West. Thoughts?

This extreme POV has me almost craning my neck as if I were there! It always pays to push the envelope I think. I can't decide which format I prefer as I really like both. I think both work well for different scenarios. For instance I think the B&W would work better for a Christmas card.

Both of them are great but I think I prefer the blue one! Maybe it's a symmetry thing!

Beautiful tones and detail, the perspective is wonderful too! I like the sharpness of the edge between the black and colours of the castle!

Seen in my contacts' photos. (?)

Love them all. I meant to take some shots from this perspective a couple of weeks ago, but completely forgot.

I agree with you about SBC with the Holiday lights. Cindy castle looks really cool all lit up like that, but there is something about the way SBC is dressed up right now that just...I dunno, leaves me in awe.

      Black and White.
BTW no Country Bear Christmas? Now I'm bummed, I wanted to see them in their holiday attire.

As far as the angle I think the straight on angle has a better eye appeal to it. The B&W version is okay but the color is just adding a little extra. I love B&W for the reason of isolating a subject from a "noisy" background or adding a older feel. I don't think the castle suffers from any of these. The blue is such a added element of the picture that taking it away does not enhance the picture.

Killer shots! I lean towards the B&W as well but they are both great.

I don't usually say this but I think I like the b&w version more, I don't know if it's the angle or the effect but something does it for me.

Killer great shot. Not an angle I've seen before. Really well done. The colors are rendered perfectly.
