Walt Disney World
Old Key West Resort
Few resorts at Walt Disney World have the exterior beauty of Old Key West. Lush, intentionally overgrown, and beautifully themed (complete with puffy clouds imported from the Conch Republic), the resort is near perfect--with regard to the exterior.
Inside the rooms, at least as far as our experience was concerned, the resort was not so great. I've often seen people praise the slightly larger room size at OKW, but we found the layout at BoardWalk more thoughtful and maximizing space better. More importantly, BoardWalk was clean and well kept. Our room at OKW smelled of must/mildew, had visible mold near the door and shower curtain, and had dirty linens. Suffice to say, if we were staying for more than three nights, we would have requested a different room. Now obviously anecdotes of this sort may not be representative of the resort as a whole, but I gauge a resort based on my personal experience. Based on our experience, it will be a while before we return to OKW (unless we receive adequate assurances from the resort that this is an exception, and not the rule--Sarah is currently in contact with DVC to convey our experience/concerns).
Still...even with all of that said...how can you deny this beauty?!
