Six Garland Strands A-Hanging
I had originally planned on posting this picture the day before I went on hiatus for finals, but I decided to hold off because I didn't want to give others the chance to improve upon the idea substantially (I'm not suggesting I'm the only one ever to have had the idea) before I myself get the chance next year, so I didn't want all of those folks taking their 70-200mm lenses to WDW this year to best it (this shouldn't come as any surprise given my competitive nature). I think I am a fair critic of my shots (although often my opinion of my shots doesn't mirror the "Flickr-public" so who knows if this is actually good), and I will readily admit that this is one of my favorite shots from Christmas 2008. Heck, it even adorns my desktop right now.
That said, I now think I could improve upon the shot with a bit of a different angle, and a 70-200 lens. Ahh, more talk about the 70-200 lens that has so engrossed my thoughts over the last couple of months. Well, lens lust hit its peak over the last few weeks, with me having Firefox monitor eBay heavily in hopes of scoring a Tamron or Sigma II 70-200. While most of the good holiday deals have passed and I am still empty-handed, I am still hopeful that I can score one of the two for less than $400 on eBay. I'm sad that I won't be able to use the lens to capture our Christmas decorations this year, but I am hopeful that I can acquire one by our honeymoon in June (big thanks to Cody and Doug for their helpful information regarding the lenses!).
For now, it's off to Michigan, land of prosperity, beauty, and, hopefully, SNOW! I look forward to catching up on everyone's streams in the coming days.
