There are wild donkeys all over Bonaire. They're descendents of those brought from Europe as beasts of burden. The government is trying to relocate them since they're not native to the island, and their lives are pretty difficult in the harsh climate and terrain. There's a donkey sanctuary that pays $50 for every (living) wild donkey you bring in.
